Tools needed: drill, 30–32mm Forstner bit, pencil or marker.

• Use a rail/spreader and striker plate for every latch – this prevents drawers relying on a single catch and keeps everything secure on rough roads.
• Mount the rail/spreader flush with the bottom edge of the drawer above.
• Leave a 3mm gap between drawers so the latch handle can slide freely.
• Mark striker plate position with the drawer closed, then measure back the drawer-front thickness to align the striker plate correctly.
• Drill a 32mm hole approx 9mm deep to mount the striker plate cleanly.

Optional: raise the rail/spreader 9mm and screw the striker plate directly to it for a quicker install.
